Charl's Bistro

We entered the bar the first time and we got the first drink. The place only accepts cash. We gave them in euros and they overcharged us without giving us a receipt. After the first round drink we run out of cash so we went out to withdraw money. When we went back we queued outside to get in again. The security were very rude and when it was my turn to get in I noticed that they started to talk to me in Albanian, when I said I did not understand they started to be even ruder and let in only those people who replied to them on Albanian that were after me and my 3 friends in the queue and I could not make sense of it but I did not say a word. The security continued to tell me to stand on the side and so I did while all the Albanians-speaking were stepping ahead of me even if they arrived after. While I was waiting one of the security managing the door was so excessively and uselessly violent (the situation was quiet and people were quietly queuing) that closed the hand of a girl that was getting out in between the door and I was trying to call his attention in English on the hand of the girl that he was closing. In the end after queuing for about 20 minutes to get back and after seeing all people that arrived after me getting ahead of me I was told “full full” so I left. This place is unfriendly to tourists and quiet blatantly racist. Not recommended.

Stopped here while exploring Tirana. Excellent food (cheeseburger and fries were quality) and good beer. It was fairly quiet when I went in (Friday night, around 8pm) so plenty of space.

I had one of the worst experiences in the Charls Bistro, I visited with friends from Colombia, the USA, France, and Ireland for a night of salsa dancing, expecting a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, we encountered unprofessional and dismissive service. 1. The bartender initially refused card payments but changed his attitude as soon as he heard us speak Albanian. 2. Our drinks were taken away by a staff member, and when we reported it, multiple staff members (bartender, floor staff, cashier, and security) refused to take responsibility or even acknowledge the issue. 3. After repeatedly asking for assistance, the security dismissed us, saying, "He's new, get over it," without any attempt to resolve the situation. This is not the hospitality I’m used to in Albanian venues. The entire team, including management, displayed a complete lack of professionalism. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects fair treatment and good service.
