Maybe I don’t have “refined” taste, or maybe I just didn’t understand the concept, but I stumbled into Brutal (yes, that’s the name of the restaurant) after a truly brutal day of travel. My mobile data had mysteriously stopped working after months of no issues with my eSIM, I had lost my stateside keys, and I was running on fumes: just a hardboiled egg, a banana, and some almonds all day. The name Brutal caught my eye though it was probably a warning I should’ve heeded! I tried to order the turkey, but they were out. The server kindly suggested the duck; I declined and went with the lamb instead. They brought a complimentary starter that my friend dubbed “the boobie” (you’ll see why in the photo), and then the lamb dish arrived… somewhere in that picture, if you can find it. To be honest, the flavors were thoughtful, and the service was perfectly polite but the portion was so tiny I left still hungry. An hour later, I ended up at Opingo’s, where I devoured six tacos for less money than my single lamb plate here. I’ll admit, I didn’t leave a tip, which I normally always do, but $20 for some morsels of food left me feeling more robbed than refined. If you’re into elegant, artsy bites and want to "experience" food, this might be your place. But if you’re a famished traveler who just needs a solid meal, maybe don’t walk into a place called Brutal unprepared. P.S. Go to Opingo's to begin with instead!

This is the best rearaurant in Tirana. Delicate and extremely tasty plates. So curated in every detail so you will feel an explosion of flavors so well combined! Love it everytime !
